- Supported Operating Systems — Most computer operating systems are now changing frequently, and vendors drop support of older ones. A balance needs to be maintained between newer systems, which have the latest features and support newer hardware, vs existing older installations, which may be needed for older software or hardware still in use.

- Creating or mounting an ISO (virtual CD-ROM or DVD) — Software distributed on CD or DVD sometimes requires it to be on the media to install or otherwise work. You can distribute the content virtually as an *.iso file, and then mount that file so the OS thinks it's an actual CD or DVD.

- Firefox ESR, Windows — In Windows, why not transition to 64-bit Firefox ESR "now", especially for new installs? For example, in Cornell's CM Windows 10 OSDs.
- Fonts, Apple — Know what fonts you use which are not default fonts of your OS. You'll need to re-install them when you get a new computer or get a new OS!
- Google services, including Chromebooks — Many CCB folks use Google products. Here's some of what ChemIT knows of some of those services, as an FYI.

- Aye - Laptop and desktop support barriers — Many of Yimon's support tickets related to her desktop and laptop lead to successfully addressing symptoms, and not addressing underlying structural issues implied to exist. Thus, this page tries to collect in one place tickets and other information to help better respond to future requests for support. This situation, which includes software not being kept up to date for whatever reason, is expected to only get worse, alas.

- Faculty members' research group web sites — Research labs have web pages. Smart choice of hosting makes your site attractive and easy to maintain. Challenge is that there are lots of choices! Learn of some of your peer's choices here.
- CU Blogs are great for Research Groups — Free services from ATC include consulting, building, and maintaining research and instruction-related web sites. Using EduBlogs and other services.
- Non-Cornell domain names — If faculty want a non-Cornell domain name, they will usually just use a 3rd party domain registrar. This page contains a few services recommended by others on campus.
- Off-site hosting examples — Examples of non-campus-based web and web-related services, such as domain hosting.
- Static web sites — Most Chemistry research lab sites have historically been static web sites. Many, many have moved to CU Blogs. These were migrated from A&S's web server to CIT's service Dec 2012/ Jan 2013. N.B. The Stockroom site is still a static site.
