    Topics for 5-20-15 meeting

Tobi, Camille, & I met to discuss SUMA and the changes we'd like to see.  The following are open for discussion:

    • Managing/configuring a list of popular/favorite activities.  Our top 3 groupings include:
      • 2-4, group table, studying, laptop
      • individual, group table, studying, laptop
      • Individual, soft seating, individual table, laptop
    • Multiplier Button
      • We could select the appropriate categories and then hit X and then enter a number
    • Reporting edits:
      • The Calendar Heat map report doesn’t seem to be enabled for the last couple of years: http://suma.library.cornell.edu/suma/analysis/reports/calendar/ This might be useful in helping us easily see the days (and months) of high usage.
      • SUMA API: The raw export from the time series report only gives us counts of people, groups, activities etc by day without any way to see, for instance, the number of individuals sitting at group tables using laptops in the Bissett space during a particular recording session at a particular time. It looks like the API might give us that option possibly (see below). Similarly it looks like we’d have to get hours/session times from the API to figure out high use times of day since the raw csv export only gives us aggregate total by day.
      • Also if we’re thinking about connecting SUMA directly to Tableau (to get around the fact that SUMA chokes when I try to export all of the raw data in csv), then does SUMA use the OData (Open Data) protocol?
      • Would be nice but not necessary: Having a free text field to make notations on data collection
