MAP DATABASE IN LUNA

The goal of this project is to make accessible approximately 1000 digital images of maps from the the Maps and Geospatial Information Collection. These digital files are currently housed on a hard disk in the Maps and Geospatial Information Collection and are not available for patron access and use.
During this project, a new collection will be created in Luna, and the digital images will be ingested. Since Voyager catalog records exist for the original maps, these MARC records will be extracted and ingested into Luna, and new catalog records with links to the digital resource will be loaded into Voyager. The project will entail the collaboration of staff in the Maps and Geospatial Information Collection (Maps), Library Technical Services (LTS), and Digital Library and InformationTechnologies (DLIT).
The proposed project workflow and estimated budget follows. This estimate assumes that the images selected by Maps meet the quality standards required for Luna display. Final billing will be based on actual hours spent on the project.
