Results in Mechanical

In Mechanical, we will look at a few important results such as deformation, Von-Mises stress, and the reaction forces and moments. Note that the bending moments experienced by the blade would be in the opposite direction to the reaction moments.

Summary of steps in the above video:

  1. Right-click solution then...
    1. Add Total Deformation
    2. Add Equivalent Stress
    3. Add Force reaction, under probe
      1. Select remote displacement for the B.C
    4. Add Moment reaction
      1. Select remote displacement for the B.C
  2. Solve

Results in CFD-Post

Note: In version 2019 R2 we were unable to open the FEA results in CFD-Post. This is not critical to the tutorial, so if you get an error during this step, please skip to the next step.

A very nice feature of ANSYS is to be able to look at both the FEA and the CFD results together in CFD-Post. We show you how to do this in the following video.

Summary of steps in the above video:

  1. In Workbench
    1. Drag a drop a results component system (CFD Post)
    2. Link the solutions cells from the CFD and the FEA to this new results cell.
    3. Double-click on results to open CFD Post.
  2. In CFD Post
    1. Add a contour
      1. Name it Deformation
      2. Choose the variable to be "total mesh displacement".
      3. Choose the selection to be FAM 12.
