This semester I am in the High Rate Sedimentation subteam. Out team try to increase the upflow velocity in the sedimentation tank by a factor of 2 to 10 without degrading the performance of the tank. In order to achieve this goal, we design two sets of plate settlers in our propose sedimentation tank, one set near the bottom of the tank that will be suspended within the floc blanket, and one above them to capture finer particles. I worked on the design of the bench scale new sedimentation tank for the pipe experiment.
