Spring 2016 Contributions

In this semester, I am part of the High Rate Sedimentation team. We try to design a sedimentation tank with higher flow rate. By doing this, we can actually decrease the area of sedimentation tank in a plant. Our subteam will play with the plate settlers and try to set the plate settlers in floc blanket.

Fall 2015 Contributions

This semester I am in the High Rate Sedimentation subteam. Our team try to increase the upflow velocity in the sedimentation tank by a factor of 2 to 10 without degrading the performance of the tank. We also want to keep the floc blanket in the sedimentation tank. In order to achieve this goal, we design two sets of plate settlers in our propose sedimentation tank, one set near the bottom of the tank that will be suspended within the floc blanket, and one above them to capture finer particles. I worked on the design of the bench scale new sedimentation tank for the pipe experiment. I also helped to build the apparatus and run the experiments.
