CHARGE

The Visual Resources Working Group provides a forum for discussion of issues related to digital visual resources on campus, including collection building and development, research and instructional support, policy creation, and public outreach.  Members meet monthly and represent key stakeholders on campus from a variety of departments, including FAL, HFJ, RMC, RLS, Olin/Uris, DCAPS, ILR, Maps, Mann, Academic Technologies.

Included in the charge are the following responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of metadata conventions/development in visual resource arena
  • Develop policies regarding passwords, public support, collection development, reference referrals
  • Develop  project workflows 
  • Look towards the future of Visual Resources, including multimedia-related issues, and delivery systems (including image-sharing sites such as Flickr,  mobile/hand-held delivery, etc.)
  • Advise and partner strategically with other constituents on campus who are developing or supporting similar resources
  • Prioritize objectives, document yearly accomplishments, reassess as needed
  • Coordinate or co-sponsor public forums on issues relating to digital image collection development and/or use.
