Fall 2009 Contributions
This semester I have worked on the Laminar Tube Floc team. My role has primarily been working on the FReTA setup to adapt it to our new experiments. This semester I helped extend the flocculator so that it can be run at three different lengths (2796 cm, 5592 cm, and 8388 cm). In addition, I have worked to adapt the existing Process Controller files for FReTA to run new experiments studying how alum dose affects flocculator performance at various turbidities and lengths and helped run these experiments. Also, I created a new state in Process Controller that allows us to calibrate the influent turbidity before beginning an experiment, and worked to resolve problems with turbidity fluctuations during experiments.
Spring 2010 Contributions
This semester I worked to continue our investigation of how varying alum dose affects flocculation in different length flocculators. I worked to troubleshoot a number of problems we had with FReTA this semester, as well as running a number of experiments. In addition, I did some work on data analysis in addition to running the experiments. I assisted in interpreting settling velocity distribution data, and helped to update some parts of the data processor.
