Search/Match is an extremely powerful feature in PeopleSoft. At Cornell it is primarily used for maintaining the integrity of the database, with users from many departments entering data into PeopleSoft there is always a chance for creating duplicate entities, to minimize the entry of duplicate or multiple records Search/Match is the utilized as a primary search engine. The three searchable ID types (called Search Types) are :-
- Person (Emplid).
- Organization (organization IDs within PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions).
- Applicant (HRS_PERSON_ID within PeopleSoft Enterprise HRMS Talent Acquisition Manager).
Even though there are a quite a few Search/Match rules setup in the system there are only a few Records that are part of the rule, all the records used in Search/Match are listed below:

Cornell Uses Search/Match in both, Online Transaction Processing and Batch Processing. In both cases the possible matches are reported back to the user in a predefined Result table format and the user then makes a decision as to whether a new ID needs to be generated. It is very critical for the Underlying tables producing the Search/Match results to be populated with up to the second information, if HR is migrated to Workday then there needs to be a real time Synchronization between PeopleSoft and Workday to avoid disruption in PeopleSoft Search/Match Functionality.
