Amelia Symonds's Individual Contribution Page

Fall 2008 Contributions

This fall I have been working on the FCM Linearization and Calibration subteam. Initial research was done to acquire data for the kinematic viscocity of chlorine to see if the values used for calculation are different from those tabulated. I have also been involved in trouble shooting to determine the cause of experimental deviation from theoretical models. We think this is mainly from minor headloss that was neglected in the original calculations. One source of this is variation in the inner diameter of plastic tubing so tests are being done to find the exact inner diameter. Work is also being done to set up a replication of the system used in Honduras to reproduce data collected there and to create a consistent method for designing Flow Control Modules to meet a desired flow rate.
