Pilot Plant Tube Flocculator

Overview

A tube flocculator was recently constructed at the pilot plant. The tube flocculator will be used to compared the effects of organic matter on coagulation and alum dosing to previous experiments performed in the lab with clay.

Methods and Results

No experiments have been performed on the tube flocculator as of yet.

Flocculator Maintenance

In order to begin running the flocculator, air must be siphoned out of the tube using a vaccuum pump. The tube flocculator should be kept at a lower elevation than the vertical flow hydraulic flocculator to to maximize available head.

The flocculator should be coiled in a way that prevents pinching of the tube.
