Fall 2008 Goals

  • Become familiar with the data collected for the ACD so far
  • Establish a current MathCAD sheet for the ACD
  • Assess current experimental prototype of the chem doser
    • Conduct necessary lab research on it. This will probably be done by using pressure sensors to relate float height and chemical outflow so that lab set up will need to be put together
      • The newest prototype does not have a MathCAD sheet or any test data for it yet
  • Modify the prototype so that it is as close to a suitable design for Honduras as possible
    • Test prototype coupled with the automated flow control
      • Install at CUWTP to test
  • Develop calibration procedure for the automated inflow system
  • Create a plan to implement this in an AguaClara water treatment plant in Honduras during the January intersession or provide detailed info for the AguaClara team in Honduras to fabricate and install it during the fall semester.

at the moment there are two possibilities for semester plans, depending on what the summer group finished, we haven't been able to get in touch with the summer group to pass over information and they have not posted on the wiki so soon we will update gantt chart and goals

Goals if the summer group produced a prototype of the lever arm

  1. Revise and perfect mathcad code developed from summer 2008.
  2. Test the device to determine efficacy.
  3. Compare experimental results with those expected from mathcad and make necessary code changes.
  4. Adjust with the trial device until the experimental results match the predictions.
  5. Document results on Wiki and provide intial draft for a scientific paper.
