Goal: To include information about PPR for video content (DVD, streaming, etc.) where users and public services staff can see it.

PPR will be reviewed and included in records when a selector specifically requests the purchase of AV material with PPR, or they believe PPR was included at the time of purchase previously. 

  1. Selectors will identify when a resource includes PPR, whether after purchase, or as part of the request to purchase either on the appropriate form (POOF!, eNERF, etc...) or via e-mail to e-resources@cornell.edu or ltsord-l@cornell.edu
  2. E-Resource licensing staff will verify the PPR terms and determine PPR statement(s) for the material
  3. Licensing staff will enter the terms in the appropriate place, depending on the format:
    1. Licensed e-resources with an 856 subfield i that points to a valid license record in Intota - in the PPR fields of the appropriate Intota license record (see below)
    2. Physical media (DVD, etc…) and online resources not covered by the above - the MFHD 845 field (845 - Terms Governing Use and Reproduction Note)

Bullfrog Films - (http://bullfrogfilms.com/faq.html#rentals) Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted; DVDs may be used for admission-free screening events on the Cornell campus.

California Newsreel (http://newsreel.org/digital - this is the DVD + Site/ Local Streaming License) - enter: Classroom use and public performance rights (when no event admission fee is charged) for the life of the DVD.  Cornell may also encode streaming files from the DVD for use on our streaming server. This title may be streamed from Cornell's institutional password protected streaming server only to students, faculty and staff for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase. Streaming without password protection to the larger web or via YouTube is prohibited under this license.'

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (http://www.cfmdc.org) - Licensed for educational and research use only.  No Public Performance Rights granted.  If further Public Performance Rights are needed, an additional public exhibition rental fee will be required.

Center for Asian American Media (http://caamedia.org/) - Not yet reviewed - emailed company on 4/24/17

The Cinema Guild (distributor) - (http://store.cinemaguild.com/nontheatrical/INFO.html) - A purchase grants the institution the right to screen the film to its students and faculty, on campus or school grounds, where no admission is charged. These rights are valid for the life of the DVD. - Enter: Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - no admission charge allowed, and viewing must be on campus and limited to members of the Cornell University community

Collective Eye Films (http://www.collectiveeye.org/pages/film-licenses) – when purchased as “University & College (with PPR)” - Enter: Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - no admission charge allowed, no public advertising of the viewing events, and viewing must be limited to members of the Cornell University community

Dark Hollow Films (https://www.darkhollowfilms.com/pages/license-info/) - Public Performance Rights granted for any noncommercial exhibition of the physical DVD to a group for educational purposes; no admission charge allowed. The term of the public performance license is for the life of the DVD. Film may not be duplicated, digitized or transmitted electronically in any form without a Digital Site License or specific permission from the copyright owner. (terms as of 8/1/17)

Electronic Arts Intermix (https://www.eai.org/webpages/61 ; see "Educational purchases on DVD") - Licensed for educational and research use only.  No Public Performance Rights granted.

Film.sprout (aka "The Tech Movie, LLC") - (http://www.filmsprout.org/) - Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - public exhibitions allowed when directly sponsored or hosted under the auspices of Cornell University; public exhibition does not apply to any broadcast, cable or satellite transmission of the film.  Admission may be charged.  These rights are valid for the life of the DVD. ‡x licensee is not allowed to rip or burn the film (see bibid=9688694)

Films Media Group (Invoice will probably come from Infobase Learning, which is the parent company) - (http://www.films.com/ecTerms.aspx) Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - no admission charge allowed.  PPR rights also include closed-circuit transmission within a single building or on a single, geographically unified campus. 

Food Evolution, LLC (https://www.foodevolutionmovie.com/)  No Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted; licensed for classroom use only.  Other licenses may be available from the publisher.

Good Docs (https://www.gooddocs.net/faqs) No Public Performance Rights granted; the Educational DVD license allows for  unlimited classroom, staff, library and internal training use only.  Other licenses may be available from the publisher.

Grasshopper Film (http://store.grasshopperfilm.com/faqs.html) - PPR rights granted which allow for an institution to hold an exhibition of the film on its own grounds, to groups of no more than 50 people, and where no admission is charged. ‡x If the Digital Site License is purchased, the institution is allowed to locally host and stream the film to their faculty and student body on a secure, password or IP-protected system for the life of the digital file. The institution can choose to encode from the purchased DVD or request a higher-resolution file. 

Icarus Films (http://icarusfilms.com/ordering.html and also see notes on the invoice) - Public Performance Rights (PPR) for non-commercial and educational exhibition when no admission fee is charged.  DVD may not be transmitted via cable or broadcast television. (see holdings=10115711)

IranianMovies.com (http://www.iranianmovies.com/page/FAQS) - No Public Performance Rights (PPR); classroom use only. NOTE: wrote to publisher on 5/22/17 to confirm that no PPR included.

Kathy Huang Films (http://www.kathyhuangfilms.com/) - No Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted; the DVD is to be used for educational use only.  If public use is desired, additional fees will apply.

Kino Lorber (https://www.kinolorberedu.com/terms) - Public Performance Rights vary depending on the fee paid for the DVD.  For the basic level of PPR use this statement, No Public Performance Rights granted; classroom use only.  Additional rights available for an additional fee.  If PPR is purchased use this statement, Public Performance Right (PPR) granted for educational and nonprofit groups to exhibit our films to groups of 100 or fewer individuals where admission is not charged. Additional rights available for an additional fee.

Media Working Group (http://mwg.org/) Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted.  No duplication, clipping, web site content, streaming or any or all other social media. Other licenses may be available from the publisher.

Movies that Educate (https://moviesthateducate.com/ Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted for classroom, organizational or library use by the acquiring institution for non-paying audiences only.

Passion River (http://www.passionriver.com/ ) - Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted for groups of up to 500 people and no admission is charged.  If admission is charged, please contact the staff at Passion River for more information, as this will require an additional fee.

PRAGDA - https://pragda.com/films/license-agreement/ -NOTE: these terms apply when purchased as "Institutions with PPR" - Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - non-commercial and educational exhibition when no admission fee is charged. This does not include showing the film on television or online, but does include a license for closed-circuit use within a single campus. (see bibid=9428869)

Seventh Art Releasinghttp://www.7thart.com/FAQ.php - No Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted; the DVD is to be used for educational use only.  If public use is desired, additional fees will apply.

Third World Newsreel (http://twn.org/twnpages/orders/orderinfo.aspx) Public Performance Rights (PPR)  granted.  Institutions are allowed to show the program in classrooms, libraries and on-campus screening rooms to staff, faculty and registered students only. Institutions may not charge admission or ask for donations during showings. Additional rental fees may apply to commercial events or events that are open to the public. 

Tugg - http://resources.tugg.com/legal/educational-trial-license-agreement/  - PPR granted.  Screenings may only be held for Authorized Users, although incidental members of the public may attend as long as the Screening occurs on the grounds of the Educational Institution. You may not charge an admission fee for Screenings and no individual Screening may be for an Expected Audience in excess of 250 people.
