PPR will be reviewed and included in records when a selector specifically requests the purchase of AV material with PPR, or they believe PPR was included at the time of purchase previously. [NOTE: older DVDs might not include PPR rights; we may have to ask the vendor about rights associated with past purchases]

  1. Selectors will identify when a resource includes PPR, whether after purchase, or as part of the request to purchase either on the appropriate form (POOF!, eNERF, etc...) or via e-mail to e-resources@cornell.edu or ltsord-l@cornell.edu. 
  2. E-Resource licensing staff will verify the PPR terms and determine PPR statement(s) for the material
  3. Licensing staff will enter the terms in the appropriate place, depending on the format:
    1. Licensed e-resources with an 856 subfield i that points to a valid license record in Intota - in the PPR fields of the appropriate Intota license record (see below)
    2. Physical media (DVD, etc…) and online resources not covered by the above - in the Holdings, add "Holdings notes"; Note type: "Restriction" and then the PPR note in the "Note" area as per vendor. See example below:

California Newsreel (http://newsreel.org/digital) - this is the DVD + Site/ Local Streaming License) - enter: Classroom use and public performance rights (when no event admission fee is charged) for the life of the DVD.  Cornell may also encode streaming files from the DVD for use on our streaming server. This title may be streamed from Cornell's institutional password protected streaming server only to students, faculty and staff for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase. Streaming without password protection to the larger web or via YouTube is prohibited under this license.'

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (http://www.cfmdc.org) - Licensed for educational and research use only.  No Public Performance Rights granted.  If further Public Performance Rights are needed, an additional public exhibition rental fee will be required.

Cargo Film & Releasing (http://cargofilm-releasing.com/) Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted for educational or nonprofit groups in schools, classrooms and settings that are open to the public and where no admission fee is charged.

Center for Asian American Media (http://caamedia.org/) - Not yet reviewed - emailed company on 4/24/17

The Cinema Guild (distributor) - (http://store.cinemaguild.com/nontheatrical/INFO.html) - A purchase grants the institution the right to screen the film to its students and faculty, on campus or school grounds, where no admission is charged. These rights are valid for the life of the DVD. - Enter: Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - no admission charge allowed, and viewing must be on campus and limited to members of the Cornell University community.

Cine Qua Non, Inc. (info@incite-pictures.com) - Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted for classroom use and Digital Site License (DSL); Classroom rights allow unlimited use in face-to-face classroom situations for the life of the media, restricted to a single campus or location. Please note that this license doesn't include public screenings or digital transmission of any kind. Digital Site License (DSL) rights allow colleges, universities and nonprofits to locally host and stream to their community on a closed, password-protected system for the life of the digital file. Restricted to use on a single campus and to those enrolled in online classes at that campus.   

Cinedu (https://cinedu.com/req.php?req=static.php&page=terms-of-use) PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS (PPR - $349) allow educational and nonprofit groups to exhibit our films to groups of 100 or fewer individuals where admission is not charged. The term of the Public Performance license is for the life of the DVD. However, if you intend to charge admission, expect an audience over 100, or publicly advertise the screening, then we ask that you contact us regarding an exhibition fee. Films purchased without Public Performance Rights are restricted for individual viewing or face-to-face teaching in the classroom only. Restricted to use on a single campus or usual place of presentation.

Collective Eye Films (http://www.collectiveeye.org/pages/film-licenses) – when purchased as “University & College (with PPR)” - Enter: Public Performance Rights (PPR) granted - no admission charge allowed, no public advertising of the viewing events, and viewing must be limited to members of the Cornell University community.

Academic Libraries may also lend DVD films to library users. The duration of a Public Performance license is 10 years.
