Spring 2009 Contributions

I am very glad to be a part of such a dynamic project, unfortunately this is my first semester with Aguaclara so I have not been able to make any direct contributions as of yet, but I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience in the non-profit community to my work on the Outreach team. Throughout the Spring 2009 Semester I have helped to isolate potential grants including the Tech Awards Grant, revised a summary or AguaClara for Press Releases, worked on a master list of contacts with PR, wrote a grant on the behalf of AguaClara for a Pilot Plant, and constructed the Grant Writing Shortlist as well as the Grant Writing Guidelines.

Spring 2009 Midterm Contributions

After familiarizing myself with the organization I began to look for new grants to submit for AguaClara. After updating some parts of the website, I began to collect materials for a budget and began to investigate new ways to revise the outdated budgets I was receiving. I also began to to write the Grant Short List as well as Guidelines for Grant Writing. Towards the end of the first half of the semester I found the Tech Awards Grant that was filled out by Trang and then edited by Monroe however it was not submitted.

Spring 2009 Final Contributions

After undergoing a major restructuring of the Outreach Team, I began to finalize the TAG sending it to Narayana for final edits. After he returned it to me, I submitted the grant (we are now waiting to hear if we got it or not). I researched some of the organizations on the Grant Short List, concentrating my efforts on the Ford Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation after a meeting with Monroe and Nicole. I went on to draft a letter to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as to copy and paste the questions for the Ford Foundation so that they may be filled out. I also wrote and a grant for a new AguaClara Pilot plant that was graded by another professor and rated as viable for grant submission. I uploaded that document as well as the letter to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the Wiki. I also looked into the Community Foundation of Tompkins County as well as a variety of other organizations and determined that AguaClara should not pursue interests there. I concluded this semester with a pretty extensive overhaul of almost every Fundraising page. I also rewrote and reorganized the Outreach main page.
