Spring 2017
As a new member of the Rapid Mix Contact Chamber team I look forward to expanding my knowledge on the specific process beyond what I learned in 4540.
Focusing on a specific part of the plant will be beneficial to understanding the physics of the coagulant - particle interactions as well as the parts in the plant where
it is possible to enhance floc formation. I hope to be able to run more experiments with my team to show whether or not the contact chamber would be a useful
addition or not. This means working quickly to design a flocculator with which to test the contact chamber as well as testing various chamber dimensions
and characteristics for the highest efficiency of coagualant - particle interaction. Adding insight to how best to measure whether free coagulant is present / attaching
to the chamber or flocculator walls is also a goal for this semester .
