Why anyone would need what Cornell calls a "Sponsored NetID"

Faculty: How to provision a Sponsored NetID for an individual

Please send an email to <ChemIT> containing the information Cornell requires:

1. The name of the person being sponsored and their NetID.
2. A simple (1 or 2 lines) statement explaining the need.
3. Duration, not to exceed a year.

Sample request

• Please extend Sponsored NetID services for Donald Duck <dd666> for another year. He is one of my collaborators and requires access to our computer cluster.

Historical note

As of Summer 2016, no need to email the Department Chair with the above information. Just <ChemIT>.

• Contact your sponsoring faculty member and have them follow the above steps.
