Copying AFS Files To and From Your Computer

Option 1- Install the AFS Client

Option 2 - SFTP/SCP

Windows

  1. Download WinSCP
  2. Connect to remote.cnf.cornell.edu
  3. Login with the SHORT version of your Cornell NetID/GuestID and associated password
  4. If you receive an error box "Error looking up user groups", don't worry... just click "OK" and you can continue logging in
  5. If the connection does not work, check that the PREFERRED SSH PROTOCOL VERSION under the Advanced tab of the Login dialog is set to version 2
  6. Initially, you will be working directly out of your AFS home folder
  7. You can move up directory levels to get to CNF shares or to someone else's home folder

Mac OS X

  1. Download Fugu
  2. Connect to remote.cnf.cornell.edu
  3. Login with the SHORT version of your Cornell NetID/GuestID and associated password
  4. When prompted with a warning about the host key of the computer, click "Yes" to continue connecting (you should only see this warning once, ever, per computer -- if you see it again, don't continue)
  5. Initially, you will be working directly out of your AFS home folder
  6. You can move up directory levels to get to CNF shares or to someone else's home folder
