oam Filter Cleaning

Challenges:
  1. What limits the cleaning efficiency of the foam?

  2. Do oscillations while plunging enhance cleaning efficiency? (Preliminary evidence from El Carpintero, Honduras, suggests that oscillations improve cleaning.)

  3. Which sizes of foam and what depth of foam can be cleaned using the plunge method?

  4. Could a high flow rate be used to clean the foam?

Fall 2015

Summary

The Foam Filter Cleaning subteam this semester strives to utilize previous research done by the Foam Filter subteams and improve upon AguaClara's foam filter technologies.

Goals of the semester:

  • Create an efficient testing apparatus for foam back wash
  • Design a new testing method and standard for foam cleanliness
