The Dell 745's (really, really old!) and older (!) computers are being replaced. Put on hold Dell 755's, and revisit summer 2014.
Why replace these old computers?
- Replace before they break reduces down-time.
- It's cheap at $400/ computer that easily lasts more than 4 years (3 years of which it's under warranty).
- Improve the user's experience, especially as it relates to memory.
- These systems have 2GB RAM, and upgrading these computer's RAM is surprising expensive: $60-80 to get to 4GB.
- Can these still-working computers be used more effectively elsewhere in Physics? Who to ask? (Mark/ Vince? Nick? Others?)
