Agenda

  1. Review & prioritize list of projects for upcoming year discussed during Sept 2014 meeting

    * Informed decisions
       - tech assessment
       - admin housekeeping of data in box and confluence
       - inventory of our collected data
       - how are we going to make use of data? (dashboard)

  2. Revisiting some of our past efforts and focusing again on learning technologies (see #10 from Sept 2014 meeting)

    * Gabriel: did I really say that?
    * not necessarily about purchasing new technology, but keeping tech as a focus/priority in assessment efforts
    * tech desk
    * assessment is re-occurring theme
       - priority: tech assessment (in person and asynchronous)
       - observations: Gabe -> at least 50% are not even using the screen at Agati, have their own laptops
       - good segue into Suma data collection, reports and dashboard

  3. Suma enhancements and stats

    * Tobi provided background on poster efforts
    * revealed the major motivation was Sara's awesome title: Suma wrestling
    * Camille will look into heatmap used by Olin

    The resulting Statistics Dashboard, hand-coded by Jay Forrest at Georgia Tech Library, unifies many data points reported to federal agencies as well as other institutions such as ARL. The dashboard also allows the inclusion of caveats and contextual notes to help explain discrepancies. It is important to note that the Dashboard is a work in progress, so it was not deployed as a fully-formed product but is rather in perpetual beta.”-from the Library Assessment paper Sara and I did with GA Tech
  4. Data dashboard (see Georgia Tech for example)

    * review Georgia Tech
    * what would we want to include?
    * Camille has the name of the guy at Georgia Tech
    * looking at something called Tableau
       - we have a site license?

  5. Invite Matt Ryan to the group? (Sara has thoughts on timing of this)
    * yes to both -> both starting in the Spring 2015
    * Sara is going to dig up MaLT charge and we'll make revisions
       - specifically mentioning membership
  6. Extra $$ from 2nd floor budget - thoughts from the group on possible tech purchases (btw $8-10k)
    * Gabriel: rumor -> Bissett fund is gone?
       - Sara and Howard: true, just one of the examples of the College pulling our funding
       - it's going to be tight for the next couple of years

    * 95% of 2nd flr budget has gone to furniture
    * Camille: sound mitigation?
    * need to decide by end of Fall
    * Gabe: showcasing student work
       - really liked ClickShare demo, but pricey
    * Gabe: Matt suggested Crestron Air Display as possible solution
       - Nick: can they even co-exist? -- need to ask Matt
    * we will gather additional suggestions during the month and try to finalize during Nov meeting
