Plane Frame

Created using ANSYS 13.0

Problem Specification

This tutorial is meant to be a successor to the Cantilever Beam Tutorial . If you have not yet completed the Cantilever Beam Tutorial, please do so before attempting the Plane Frame Tutorial.

Consider the plane frame structure in the image below. All the frame elements are made out of the rare and exotic material, Cornellium which has a Young's Modulus of 2.08x10^10 Pa and a Poisson's Ratio of 0.4 . The cross section of each truss member is 0.346m x 0.346m.

Find the deformed structure, the bending stress and the combined stress. Also, find the reaction forces and the moment reactions at the two fixed supports.
