Plate Settler Spacing
Fall 2008 Minutes
10/21/08
Accomplishments
- Solve the problem with manifold where the water is not being pull up in the two tubes farthest away from the drainage hole.
- Learn to use Program: Process Controller
- Reconnected the pressure sensor and calibrated using process controller
- Checked pump connected with the computer and tested stamp box
- Discussed wiki midterm report
Outcomes
- Continue to document experimental setup
- Water is equally pulled up the plate settler tubes
- System is hydraulically sound and has no leaks
Issues
- May need to pump water faster into the bucket
- Need two buffers setup to control pressure in the system and prevent the jerky flow caused by the peristaltic pumps
- Wasting from the settling column sometimes does not work do to a pinched tube, looking into a way to re-route the tube to prevent pinching
