Madeline Haas's Individual Contribution Page

Spring 2013 Contributions

I was a member of the Coagulant Management team for the Spring 2013 semester. My main contributions involved the centrifugal pump. I reviewed old designs and created new ones to make the previous designs more clear. Through my designs, the team was able to purchase the materials necessary for the fabrication of the pump and begin building it. I also proposed testing the pump with corn syrup and food dye so that the direction of the flow could be easily seen and recorded.

Summer 2013 Contributions

I was a member of the Ram Pump team for the 2013 Summer internship program. I contributed to the ram pump by helping to repair leaks and designing a more efficient waste valve. I helped preform tests and discussed with my team about how to interpret the results. I also helped construct a new drive system that would allow for the team to test a wider variety of drive flows.

Fall 2013 Contributions

I am a member of the Ram Pump team for the Fall 2013 semester. Our goals for the semester are to perform more tests on the ram pump and use the results to construct a mathematical model that can be used to design pumps for different conditions. We will also continue to improve the efficiency of the pump. This will involve testing various air chamber sizes and waste valve constructions.
