Spring 2011 Mid-Semester Contributions
As the Sedimentation Team is working on a new project, much of the research so far has been in design. I worked with Yiwen to design the tube flocculator to produce reasonably size flocs for our sedimentation tank. The flocculator was designed for an energy dissipation rate to encourage floc formation, for a sufficient scouring velocity and laminar flow, and for a residence time to produce flocs of a predicted size. Much of the design work has also included contributing to a Research Rationale, the drawing of figures, and working together to determine materials for our new set-up.
