The final portion of FReTA with the ball valve, effluent turbidimeter, and settling column measures the turbidity of the settling flocs. The collected data is recorded to a spreadsheet used to determine settling velocities in a MathCad file called Data Processor.

For the study of FReTA's workability, the Tube Floc team will concentrate on this final portion of FReTA. Since no flocculation will be done, in replacement of the flocculator, a small loop directly connecting the influent fluid to the ball valve will be made. The influent fluid will be a mixture of known particles and distilled water; the measurements and turbidity value of this mixture will be determined through mathematical calculations (link). With the influent mixture being pumped straight to FReTA with no modification/flocculation in between, empirical values of raw influent residual turbidity will be recorded.

An overall description of FReTA as a whole can be found in the following link: _________
