A rough analysis of embodied energy and payoff period for a solar box cooker of our design.

Paint Testing

 The paint on the exterior of the solar ovens used in Nicaragua rapidly peels, which gives people a negative impression of their quality, and makes it more difficult convince people of their viability as a cooking tool. We have conducted tests to determine the best way to prevent this from happening.

Strain Gauges

These are used to determine the amount of strain on the glass top of the cooker, allowing determination of where the glass is likely to crack.
