Design Meeting Minutes
Summer 2009 Minutes
7/24/2009
Accomplishments
- Changed the sed weirs to be the entire length of the inlet and exit channels and coded the autocad code.
Goals for Upcoming Week
- Work on final presentation, indiviudal contribution pages, challenges for next semester.
Horizontal Flow Group
Accomplishments
- Created new MathCAD file for Horizontal Flow
- Changed several values of the vertical flow file to work for horiz. flow
- Documented code to indicate what needs to be changed and what currently does what
Issues
- Variables "w", "b", "h", and "s" are relative to the vertical flow file and represent different things in the horizontal flow file. Should these variables be renamed or noted for their difference?
- Width of the channel can now be input above a minimum
Goals for Upcoming Week
- Will be out of the country this upcoming week and will resume and hopefully complete code upon return
Accomplishments
- Fixed the lamella orientation so that the lamella are angling away from the entrance channel, as opposed to originally being angled towards it.
- Added to MtoA code so that floc hoppers will be arrayed the number of sedimentation bays within the tank.
Issues
- Still need to place the floc hoppers within the plant.
- Must add the MtoA floc hopper code to the sedimentation tank with pieces file when we are completed with it.
Goals for upcoming week
- Place floc hopper within plant, and add MtoA code to sed tank with pieces file.
- Update wiki page with final notes about floc hopper design and placement.
Floc Tank Group
Accomplishments
- slots are drawn in the floc tank, and baffle widths are adjusted accordingly
- L.slot is now a basic input (the depth of the slot) set to a default of 5cm
Issues
- the up/down orientation of baffles in the last channel is backwards
- the length of the baffles do not seem to be correct
Goals for upcoming week
- meet with Monroe to determine the fate of baffles that coincide with the exit channel
- correct baffle orientation in the last channel
- correct baffle lengths
Materials List Group
Accomplishments
- Talked to Heather about the next step for our task
- Updated Variable Naming Guide for Materials List so that it can be run through the design tool. Test run with the design tool was successful
Issues
- We thought we needed to price the materials list, but it was determined that that was not necessary, at least for the time being.
Goals for upcoming week
- Talk to Monroe and Heather about what to do next with the materials list to make it most useful
- Prepare for final presentation
