Accomplishments

Working Group: Sand Filter

Accomplishments

• Ran four tests: without sand, sand at 50mL/min, sand at 100mL/min, and sand at 200mL/min
• Add more references in the annotated bibliography

Metrics

• Analyze the collected data with Excel.
• Overall, the data show that the inflow DO is lower than the outflow DO.
• The present of the sand filter does not reveal dramatic differences between the filter with and without the sand.

Outcomes

• Final drawing of the experimental setup is done.

Issues

• DO read that the initial DO is lower than the outflow DO
• When the setup starts to run, the inflow DO is too low (as low as 4 mg/L). Despite the recalibration of both DO probe, the DO reading still remain incorrect.
• The flow rate of the setup is not consistent.
