Construction of Adjustable Baffle System
Need (for each row):
- 4x6ft PVC pipe, ½" Diameter
- 24ft (7.3 m) of Polyethylene Tubing (5/8" ID, 3/4" OD, 1/16" Wall Thickness)
- Appropriate number of Upper and Lower baffles (number varies depending on spacing)
These baffle systems are constructed by first separately cutting and drilling the upper and lower baffles. The dimensions for which to cut these baffles are listed below. The holes can be drilled with a ¾" drill bit on a drill press, and it is easiest to drill all of the holes for each type of baffle at once, using clamps to hold them together, so that they line up correctly.
The next step is to create the spacers. To do this, first determine what the desired spacing between the baffles is. Then cut the 24 ft (7.3 m) of polyethylene tubing into segments of that size; this should supply you with enough spacers for the whole baffle set. Then use a box cutter to make a lengthwise slice through one side of each spacer so that they can be clipped on to the PVC pipe.
After the baffles have been cut, string them onto the 4X6ft pieces of PVC piping, alternating Upper and Lower baffles. Next arrange the baffles to the desired spacing, and clip on the spacers to ensure that correct spacing is maintained.
