Plate Settler Spacing

Fall 2008 Minutes

10/21/08

Accomplishments

  • Solve the problem with manifold where the water is not being pull up in the two tubes farthest away from the drainage hole.
  • Learn to use Program: Process Controller
  • Reconnected the pressure sensor and calibrated using process controller
  • Checked pump connected with the computer and tested stamp box
  • Discussed wiki midterm report

Outcomes

  • Continue to document experimental setup
  • Water is equally pulled up the plate settler tubes
  • System is hydraulically sound and has no leaks

Issues

  • May need to pump water faster into the bucket
  • Need two buffers setup to control pressure in the system and prevent the jerky flow caused by the peristaltic pumps
  • Wasting from the settling column sometimes does not work do to a pinched tube, looking into a way to re-route the tube to prevent pinching
  • No labels
