The primary goals of this team are to develop a gas measurement sensor that can be used in AguaClara plants, as well as design and build a fluidized bed solids concentrator sensor.

Fall 2016

The Sensor Development Team is a new team for the Fall 2016 semester. The team was created in response to the needs of the ASB UASB and AFB teams. The primary goals of this team are were to develop a gas measurement sensor that can be used in AguaClara plantswastewater subteams, as well as design and build a fluidized bed solids concentrator sensor that can be used by other AguaClara subteams. This semester, we will finalize finalized a method of gas measurement, program programmed settings in PoCoDa to automate the systems, and build built the next generation of the measurement system. We will then evaluate and troubleshoot the new system, with the possibility of designing a new system if improvement is needed. For the fluidized bed solids concentrator sensor, we will first run tests and take measurements of the photosensor output. Next, we will develop a method to correlate photosensor output to the existing intensity of fluidized solidsbuilt and calibrated a sensor that detects LED light shining through a clear PVC pipe containing granules to output granule concentrations in ProCoDa for the AFB team. This sensor can be modified for other subteams, as needed.
