Fall 2016 Contributions

This is my first semester in the AguaClara project. I make part of the Wastewater research team and of the Sensor Development subteam. Professor Monroe created a sensor an our main goal is figure out how we can improve it (its shape, how it works), creating the best gas measurement system for use by the AguaClara Wastewater teams. Ideally we complete this task by the end of September so that the sensors can start to be used. Also we have the goal of designing, building, and testing a fluidized bed solids concentration sensor.

I started to work with the gas sensor and I learned how it works and how to programme ProCoda so it starts and stops working when we want to.

The following weeks I worked with my team in the improvement of the gas sensor, building a second generation of sensors and a third generation of sensors. The third generation, with a water heigth of 10 cm fits perfectly in the AFB team's reactors.

Our next project was building a photosensor for the AFB team. Through this sensor they are able to see the concentration of solid particles in the reactors.
