There are many design and research aspects of the demo plant that remain to be explored or improved upon. Some suggestions that the Spring 2008 team has past Demo Plant teams have for future teams are below.
- Calibration of Demo Plant Flow controllers using flow controller calibration.
- Finishing construction of 2 demo plant flocculators and sedimentation tanks so that there are 3 identical completely operational plants.
- Continuing investigation into the use of the AguaClara flow controller technology for Calcium Hypochlorite dosing. Looking into solving or preventing clogging once failure has been achieved in a lab setting.
- Creating a sign out/ log book for the 3 operational demo plants.
- A sedimentation tank design that allows for even upflow and settling between all lamellaslamella, to ensure enough settling time.
- Further investigation into the significance of frictional losses in the vertical portions of flocculator channelsCompare performance of different existing sedimentation tanks, and effect on effluent turbidity
- Explore the possibility of a demo plant design that includes a sludge blanket.
