New Library Employees library employees will receive the following:

  1. Email with a link to a New Employee Orientation new employee welcomepresentation.
  2. Within the first two weeks of employment, a meeting will be scheduled by Library Human Resources will follow up with supervisors to be sure they are orienting their new staff on any other computer related training that is needed.
  3. Each new employee will be scheduled for a brief meeting with Lyndsi Prignon in Library Human Resources. During this meeting:
    • Lyndsi will meet the individual, and provide them a welcome coupon for Libe Café.
    • Check to see if the new employee has any questions about the Orientation Presentation
    • Give them a brief overview of Kronos if they are nonexempt, OR discuss the the vacation/sick leave system in Workday for exempt staff.
    • Inform them of the Library tours and strongly encourage them to attend. Tell them that the tours are a great way to learn about the other libraries and meet the other staff.
    • Show them a brief overview of the Library HR website. Highlight the forms and the learning opportunities that are available.
  4. The HR Director will schedule a follow up meeting with new academics after approximately three months of employment. 
  5. to welcome new employees to the Cornell University Library system. At this meeting, new employees will receive a personal welcome and reaffirm that our office is available as a resource. They will also be given an overview of Workday basics, Payroll and time collection, and other information related to Cornell University Library culture.
  6. Cornell has an abundance of resources to support career development and growth. Those in leadership roles are strongly encouraged to register for the Supervisor Development Program shortly after arrival and to register for the Hal D. Craft Leadership Program (HDCLP) 6-12 months after arrival. Employees in non-supervisory roles are encouraged to register for Turning Point 6-12 months after arrival. View the recommended list of training options to jump start your Cornell career development path.  If the employee is being hired into a supervisory role, Library Human Resources will evaluate his/her supervisory experience level. If needed, we will sign up the individual for the OHR New Supervisor Orientation Certificate Program.
