It's my first semester on AguaClara! The
So far this semester the AFB team goals are has been running through many ideas to get the reactors up and going. We've circumvented the clogging problem with the granules for now, and have been working on the running the reactor fairly constantly to characterize the treatment process through the reactors. To do this we have two single reactors set-up in with slightly different recycling configurations to see how that impacts the treatment (if at all). Some other goals as we move ahead is to see whether these reactors work as well as or better than the UASB system. We also hope to determine some more information about the granules within the reactors such as headloss through the fluidized bed and how quickly they can interact with the wastewater.
My personal goals are to keep learning a lots about about wastewater and to get some real data from the reactors system going, hopefully soon, without granule clogs so we can start doing more research on the AFB reactors. My personal goals are to get oriented with the lab space and how the subteams fit together as well as learn a lot about wastewater!
