"Semester" Contributions

I This semester I am in the High Rate Sedimentation subteam this semester. Out team goal for this semester is try to increase the upflow velocity in the sedimentation tank by a factor of 2 to 10 withour without degrading the performance of the tank. To In order to achieve this goal, we plan to work on the following parameters:

  • The geometry of the overall sedimentation tank
  • The geometry and capture velocity of the plate settlers above the floc blanket
  • The geometry and capture velocity of the potential plate settlers in the floc blanket
  • The correlation between the plate settlers with a capture velocity of 1 mm/s and the plate settlers with a capture velocity of 0.12 mm/s
  • The transportation of flocs to the floc hopper when there is a high upflow velocity in the sedimentation tank

 we design two sets of plate settlers in our propose sedimentation tank, one set near the bottom of the tank that will be suspended within the floc blanket, and one above them to capture finer particles. I worked on the design of the bench scale new sedimentation tank for the pipe experiment.
