This service has been designed collaboratively.  Jean would like everyone to be involved, but only as they are comfortable.  If you see your name listed and are uncomfortable with roles as described, or have ways that you can be involved that are not mentioned, please let Michelle know.  

Jean sees this gathering primarily as a celebration of Jack's life, not necessarily a sad occasion, although there will likely be some tears shed.  Taking pictures is encouraged.

Time and Place

When: Saturday, June 16, 1 PM

Where: Meet at  Podunk Rd in Trumansburg, NY

Service begins

Tony carries urn from downstairs family room to patio, while all sing “In the garden”.  Tony places the urn in the wagon. 

Spreading of ashes

We will be scattering about half of the cremains.  The other half will be kept in the urn, in Jean's possession, for later mixing with her cremains, according to her wishes.  

  • All proceed to these locations in this order (adjustments will be made as attendance firms up).
  • These locations are places in which Jack took special pride.
  • The trees listed are trees that he planted.Hymn singing will continue throughout from the list below, and as they come to mind.

Pond

  • All proceed to the pond. 
  • Dee and Addy will pull the wagon, with help from Tony  if needed. (In their absence, Marianne and Michelle will serve as alternates.)
  • Jean will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

Garden with arbor

  • All proceed to the garden with the arbor.
  • Jean will pull the wagon.
  • Marianne will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

Woodpile & tractor

  • All proceed to the area around the tractor and woodpile.
  • Marianne will pull the wagon.
  • Cherith will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

Red Maple 1

  • All proceed to the first red maple.  
  • Cherith will pull the wagon.
  • Michelle will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

Red Maple 2

  • All proceed to the third red maple.  
  • Tony and Trista will pull the wagon.
  • Kim will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

  • Marianne will ask Dee and Addy in turn if they would like to scatter ashes.
    • If either do, go to the maple directly below
    • If not, return to the patio (further below)

Optional - Maple in Front

  • All proceed to the green-leafed maple in the front of the house.  
  • Kim will pull the wagon.
  • Dee and Addy will scatter ashes, and have opportunity to share thoughts.

Return to the patio

  • All return to the seating around the table on the patio.
  • Marianne will pull the wagon. 

Selection of lanyards, capsules and fill tube

In turn (Jean, Marianne, Cherith, Michelle, Tony, Trista, Kim, Dee, Addy) all select a silk lanyard, a capsule, and a fill tube with cremains for personal remembrance.  It is our hope that at a later date, when Jean and Jack's cremains are to be mixed, all will reassemble, empty their individual fill tubes into that mix, and then refill the tubes with the combined cremains.

After the service, all are invited to eat together

There will be time for sharing regarding our reflections on Jack’s life during the meal. Food below will be provided. Other contributions (chips, drinks, etc.) are welcome.
