Adding to the list:
  • Add new collections -- Vogue Archive; Archvision; AMICA Library; ...
  • Ask library selectors (CUCD-L) if they have added any image/video database collections in the last few years, and whether should be listed in the Image Databases list.
  • Add Luna Commons -- list the individual collections in the description.
Weeding the list:
  • Confirm with VRWG the databases we will ask DRC to remove from Image Databases. (3 Xs for sure; 2 Xs re-check against criteria)
  • For individual Luna Commons collections already listed, ask the Selector whether it should remain in list. (e.g. David Rumsey Maps collection, check with Boris)
Criteria:
  • Images/Visual Media should be the focus of the database. Exclude mostly textual collections with only small sub-set of images.
  • Link directly to image databases/collections.
  • Exclude gateway and informational sites.
  • Include Cornell image collections and subscription databases. Include selected image databases from cultural institutions (e.g. NYPL, Library of Congress) available to the public.
  • Include CUL exhibits if they have an underlying & searchable database.
