Spring 2012 Contributions

This semester I am on the Floc Recycle Venturi and Low Flow Flocculator teams. I will be working with Elyssa Dixon and Ryan Anthony to design a venturi contraction that can be easily fabricated and used to move flocs from the floc blanket to the beginning of the flocculator. This denser floc blanket water should allow the raw water to flocculate much more quickly, drastically reducing the size of a plant. Furthermore, we will begin work designing a flocculator that is appropriate for low-flow plants. The current design makes a flocculator very expensive for a small plant, and by creating a more effective technology we can make small scale plants economically viable.
