Spring 2017 Contributions

As a new member of AguaClara and the Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket team, my personal goal this semester is to acquaint myself with the procedural practices of AguaClara as well as familiarize myself with work that has already been done by previous UASB and associated wastewater teams.  In addition, I would like to improve my design skills in using AutoCAD while also learning how to conduct research in a lab setting.  Ultimately I would like to see UASB progress further from small scale lab experiments into a larger testing environment.

Thus far, I have assisted in fabricating a small scale UASB sedimentation tank that will be used to finalize the design of the gas capture system in a larger UASB system.  I have also helped design experiments to test the settling properties of microbial conglomeration, otherwise known as granules.
