I am currently on the Automated Design Tool Team. At this time, I am working on updating the launder. Presently, the launder does not reach all the way across the sedimentation tank (between the inlet and exit channels). In the interest of optimizing the distribution of water and making the flow through the orifices more even, the launder is being extended all the way across the tank. After the launder is extended, it will be difficult to insert the launder into the rigid PVC coupling. For this reason, the coupling will be changed to a flexible, rubber coupling. Lastly, a ledge will be built to hold up the launder on the side near the inlet channel. Previously, there was no specific design for this and each individual plant used a different material, i.e. whatever material they could find/had at the time. With this design, there will be a similar concrete ledge built in every plant.
