Semester Contributions

Fall 2017

We plan to build a database of potential investors (lenders) and completed AguaClara projects. In addition to this, we plan to build or explore a computerized accounting tool that can be utilized by the community boards in Honduras to facilitate financial management and reporting.

Update

In our potential investors database, we included the following information: type of financing, amount typically awarded, application process, deadline, and likelihood of receiving funding. As for our computerized accounting tool research, we looked into several different ones, in particular: Quickbooks, Accufund, and Zipbooks. After such research, we decided upon Quickbooks as the most effective tool for AguaClara to utilize in the future. Moving forward, we will continue to collaborate with professionals, such as Professor Wolfolds and Professor Foote in aiding the development of our team.

Spring 2017

We plan to explore alternative strategies focused on Foundation involvement, such as revolving funds as an exit plan for re-financing and also patient capital investment.

Update

This semester the Investments Team was able to draft an executive summary that will hopefully secure capital from the Acumen Fund. This executive summary will serve as a template for future investment opportunities. I worked on the Entrepreneur & Team, Customers, and Competition portions of this summary. The Entrepreneur & Team portion acted as background information on Agua Para el Pueblo and AguaClara. The Customers portion discussed AgucaClara's target customers, focus community, and addressable market size. Finally, the Competition portion discussed AguaClara's competitors and alternatives and also competitive advantage.
