Spring 2017 Contributions

This semester I am both a Team Lead and a Research Advisor for the Small Scale Plant Testing (1 L/s) research team.

Fall 2016 Contributions

This semester I am a member of the 1 liter per second plant testing team. This past summer, I helped build this plant, so I hope to share my knowledge of it to my other teammates. The 1 L/s Small-Scale AguaClara plant is going to be shipped to Honduras in November for field testing when the team and I get there this winter. The plant has proved that it can perform as well as a traditional AguaClara plant. When testing high NTU influent water, the plant returned < 1 NTU effluent water, which is drinkable. I am excited to see something that I have worked on make its way to the field and expand the options that AguaClara has to help different communities.

Spring 2016 Contributions

As a new member to the Enclosed Stacked Rapid Sand (EStaRS) Filter team, I hope to learn from and grow with my teammates. This semester we have a few projects ahed of us and I'm very excited to get started on them. We are looking forward to fully understanding the hydraulics of the filter and being able to run it efficiently with little problem. Once we have done that, we plan to continue past work on low-tech manometers to effectively tell us when the sand is fluidized during backwash. This has previously been done in past semesters, but we are working to make them simpler and easier to read.
