Summer '09 Contributions

This summer I am working on the Design team. I have been working with Chris Defeo to develop code to design and draw the floc hopper within the plant. We decided to write the code for the floc hopper a bit differently than previous and have based it around other dimensions of the sed tank, rather than around flow rates that it needs to handle. We have finished the new file that calculates all of the dimensions of the floc hopper. We also finished the file that contains the code to draw the floc hopper and place it relative to the lamina, the sludge drain, and the entrance columns.

We placed the floc hopper so that it rests on top of the sludge drain and then leans on the sed slopes such that the top of it is vertically lined up with the first lamina.

We also placed the floc hopper code in the sed tank with pieces file so that it draws when the rest of the plant draws.

For the future we hope to add the parameters to the floc hopper code that still take in to account the flow rates and floc settling rates so that we can base the size of the floc hopper on the plant's needs but also properly fit it into the sed tank.
