Fall 2016 Contributions

This semester will be my fourth semester working with AguaClara. I am currently a research advisor for both the Chemical Dose Controller (CDC) subteam and the Countercurrent Stacked Floc Blanket Reactor (CSFBR) subteam. I am also working on the fluoride subteam. We are currently testing heights of the floc blanket with dye and will be conducting many tests for different concentrations of dye and eventually fluoride to optimize the height and reactor itself.

Spring 2016 Contributions

This semester will be my third semester working with AguaClara. Over winter break, I was able to go on the trip to Honduras and visit a lot of the plants that are built in Honduras and work on some projects with floc breakup and recalibrating turbidimeters. I am affiliated with chemical engineering now and will again be working on the fluoride team. Currently this semester we are fabricating and designing a floc blanket reactor with a tube settler to test to see if fluoride can be removed in a floc blanket. We will be applying to the EPA P3 Competition and attending the expo this semester to try to win money for AguaClara.

Fall 2015 Contributions

I am now a sophomore studying chemical engineering and this is my second semester working with AguaClara. This semester I am on the fluoride team and we are developing a system to remove fluoride from water using a coagulant such as PAC. This semester we will be setting up the system and working on ProCoDa to test different concentrations of PAC with different concentrations of fluoride in the water.

Spring 2015 Contributions

I am currently a freshman studying chemical engineering and this is my first semester on AguaClara and the CDC. This semester my goal is to work with the other members of my team in setting up the CDC and test different aspects of the system including headloss in the tubes, different float valves, and another design for the constant head tank.
