"Spring" Contributions

I joined Agua Clara this semester after learning about the system and technologies in CEE 4540. 

The FTTFC team has accomplished their goal this semester of designing and fabricating a weir that will allow treatment operators to control the amount of flow into the filters for backwash. We decided on a hinge design that allows the operator to open a flap to direct more flow into the filter and close it during normal filter flow. We then constructed a model out of 2x4's and PVC sheets and tested the model under 20 L/s. The design was successful and was easy to operate! I have had several roles on the team this semester. I worked on some of the calculations in designing the base and worked on brainstorming and perfecting the hinge design. I also helped plan how to fabricate the model and participated in the fabrication process. I have also done a lot of the more administrative work such as writing and editing the report, making the symposium presentation and updating the log book.
