Fall 2012 Contributions

As a member of the Design Team, I am initially performing necessary training in order to familiarize myself with Mathcad and the functions of Automated Design Tool. We will then commence work on the design challenges that the Design Team has designated for the semester.

December Update:

This semester Ann Newcomb and I worked together to develop a Mathcad algorithm that creates a series of two-dimensional longitudinal and transverse section cuts through the three-dimensional model generated by the Automated Design Tool (ADT) in AutoCAD. The primary AutoCAD functions utilized are the ‘sectionplane’ and ‘sectionplanetoblock’ commands which inserts a plane along where the cut is desired and generates the section cut into the drawing space, respectively. The addition of this feature to the ADT will allow new implementation partners in the near future familiarize themselves with AguaClara technology more easily. Additionally, the flow of information will be streamlined to the implementation partner and could also decrease lead time involved with the production of plant construction drawings.
