Pressure Sensors

Pressure sensors can be used to determine flow rate, volume of water in a tank, head loss through a system or depth of water.  They are connected via 1/4" tubing and are all differential sensors that measure the difference in pressure across the sensor.  If you only connect one side of the pressure sensor to the system and leave the other side open to the atmosphere, you will be measuring the the pressure relative to atmospheric pressure.   If you connect both sides of the sensor to the system, you are measuring the absolute pressure difference between the two points.

It can be seen in the image below that the wiring is not well sealed.  Please do not get these wet as this might cause failure.

For a tutorial on using these with Process Controller, see this page.

There are 3 ranges of pressure sensors in the lab:

-7 to 7 kPa

-100 to 100 kPa

-200 to 200 kPa
