Current Data
¿ 250 houses + 50 houses that will be added

¿ Turbidity at time of visit was 76.77 NTU. We sampled from the stream about 100 meters below where they take their water from. They said that this water was the same quality as the water they collected.
¿ Water enters directly into house without treatment (no chlorine)
¿ They have a tank that holds 8,000 gallons
¿ They have water all the time, 24/7 7 days a week
¿ Most people buy water in bags,
o 20 Lempiras for 20 bags (0.5 L) or 10 L of water lasts about a week

Agua Para el Pueblo's Project

o Will serve the current tank as well as 50 new houses
o Construction of tank should start this week
¿ Build a grit chamber for the water supply.
o Last time they cleaned after 2-3 months there was around 15 cm of dirt in the tank
¿ Make improvements to the distribution system

Current Data
¿ Around 900 houses

o Salary is 4,000 L a month
o He says he works full time and more (about 10 hrs a day) mainly turning on and off valves to give water to different sectors.
¿ They chlorinate for treatment
o Use 6 pounds of chlorine every 6 days
¿ They have three tanks
o Only two are functional
o The entrance tank is 47,000 gallons (8 years old)
o Other working tank is 12,000 gallons
o Non working tank is 10,000 gallons
¿ They have water only 2 times a week for each sector

o A smaller source, which they said was a nacimiento closer to the distribution tanks, was the only one working when we visited.
o The other water source is called el chorrera and brings more water and comes dirtier

¿ Arnaldo Canales, the APP employee working on these two projects indicated that the 4 Communidades Junta was easier to work with than Tamara's.
